About

Low 5 Golf was a creation of my own desire to become a better and more consistent player. I initially started playing at a fairly early age and became good enough (single digit handicap) to play on my high school team for 3 years, virtually without any formal instruction. After high school, golf became more of a recreation sport for me where I would only play a handful of times a year. It wasn’t until my later 20’s (where I was often shooting in the 90’s) that I started to take it more seriously again and worked on improving my game.  After a lot of trial and error, tinkering, and a few lessons, I was able to not only get back to the level I was playing at in high school but improved even more to reach the holy grail of golf…SCRATCH!

Over that time I kept many notes as to what worked, what didn’t and what worked for a while but didn’t last. The biggest breakthrough for me was actually with my chipping. There were more times than I’d like to admit where I would chunk or thin a chip shot, especially from a tighter lie. I recall one day while practicing chip shots to feel like I was giving the ball a “Low 5”…something clicked with that and since then it’s been a very rare occurrence of me not hitting a chip shot solid. As that became a strength of my game, I thought why can’t I apply this same feel to every aspect of my game. This was a game changer for me…not only did I improve but was able to maintain my game without much practice. It’s the reason I have been able to maintain my handicap while only playing around 10 times a year the last few years (raising children and having a career will do that to you 🙂 ).

The reason I decided to put together this instructional series is I truly believe this information will help everyone who isn’t consistently shooting in the 70’s (and even some aspects of it might help these players) to improve. Every time I go to the range, 95% of the people I see there would hit the ball so much better if they just knew how to setup correctly. When I get paired up with others on the course, many times I get asked for advice and they are always shocked as to how much of an impact a simple setup change can make…even in the short game.

I know how frustrating and lost this game can make you feel. Most who play are either not informed or even worse…too informed! That’s why I made the Low 5 Golf instructional series to be simple and efficient. Get off that roller coaster ride of constant tinkering and different instruction and start playing quality golf!
